Privacy Policy

1. The short version

We collect what we need to find you the right schools, we never sell your data, and you can email us anytime to see or delete what we hold. That's the whole spirit of this policy — the rest is detail.

2. What we collect

  • Account — your name, email address, and optional photo, managed by our sign-in provider (Clerk).
  • Profile — what you tell us during onboarding: age, gender, country, education, grades, target degree and major, test plans.
  • Your work — activities, projects, essays, tracker notes, and messages you write in Nia.
  • Payments — handled by our payment providers (Clerk Billing / Stripe for cards, Selar for mobile money). We never see or store your card number. We keep only your plan and its status.
  • Usage — basic records like how many AI generations you have used this month.

3. How we use it

  • To generate your school list, evaluations, and essay help — your profile and relevant content are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for this purpose.
  • To run the app: sign-in, messaging with William, your tracker.
  • To email you: a welcome email when you join, and an alert when William replies to your messages. You can turn ongoing emails off on your profile page.
  • To keep the service fair (usage limits) and secure.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your essays or profile to advertise to you.

4. Who we share it with

Only the service providers that make Nia work: Clerk (sign-in and card billing), Stripe (card payments), Selar (mobile-money payments), Anthropic (AI generation), Vercel (hosting), Prisma Postgres (database), Resend (email), Pusher (live messaging), and Cloudinary (photo uploads). Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

We may also share information if the law requires it.

5. Where your data lives, and for how long

Your data is stored on servers in the United States. We keep it while your account exists. If you want your account and data deleted, email us and we will remove it.

6. Children

Nia is for students aged 13 and up. If you are under 18, please involve a parent or guardian in payment decisions.

7. Your choices

  • Edit your profile anytime from the app.
  • Turn email alerts off on your profile page.
  • Ask us what data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it.

8. Changes and contact

If we change this policy in an important way, we will let you know in the app or by email.
